At AIG, we are reimagining the way we help customers to manage risk. Join us as an Underwriting Associate to play your part in that transformation. It’s an opportunity to grow your skills and experience as a valued member of the team.

Make your mark in Operations Underwriting Support Team

AIG Underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, and Multinational Clients. The Operations Underwriting Support team provides support to underwriters across the business in the administration and servicing of commercial lines policies. The role will report directly to the New Zealand Operations Lead with the goal being to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.

How you will create an impact

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • You will be working closely with underwriters across multiple profit centres, as well as other internal teams and outsourced service providers, supporting the quotation, bind and issuance processes across the full policy lifecycle
  • You will be the key contact onshore and become our SME to support the policy lifecycle
  • You will interact with our external customers chasing up and/or querying closings
  • You will liaise with internal collections teams to follow up on unallocated cash queries
  • You will ensure adherence to internal governance and compliance procedures, policies and guidelines.
  • You will also participate in operational audits, disaster recovery and business continuity exercises, when required.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Experience as an underwriting associate in general insurance
  • Exposure to commercial lines products would be a distinct advantage
  • Ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively
  • Solid MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Proven ability to work on multiple issues concurrently, delivering in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with a broad range of constituencies and diverse groups
  • Solid relationship management skills

Ready to prove your potential? We would love to hear from you.

At AIG, we value in-person collaboration as a vital part of our culture, which is why we ask our team members to be primarily in the office. This approach helps us work together effectively and create a supportive, connected environment for our team and clients alike.
