What you're up against
Every country has its own rules. Most of them unwritten.
Cross-border job hunts go wrong in predictable ways. Three of the most common, and what SmartCVs does about each. It doesn't translate your CV or change its layout country by country, so for a language or a format of its own, you'll need to adapt it yourself.
A CV written to home-country habits
A photo, date of birth, marital status or religion is expected on CVs in some countries. In New Zealand, Australia, the UK and many others they're left off, and they take up space your experience needs.

Your SmartCVs profile has no place for a photo, date of birth or marital status, so no CV it makes includes them. If you apply somewhere that expects a photo, download the Word version and add it there.
The questions employers ask first
Can you legally work here? How good is your English? Ads often ask outright, and a CV that doesn't say leaves the employer to guess.

Does it work in my country?
Yes. SmartCVs tailors your CV to whatever job ad you give it, from any job site in any country. It's built in New Zealand, and CVs come out on A4, the page size used in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and most of the world.
Should my CV have a photo or date of birth?
In New Zealand, Australia, the UK and many other countries, no. Employers there don't expect them, and they take up space your experience needs. A SmartCVs profile has no place for them, so no CV it makes includes them. If a country or employer asks for a photo, download the Word version and add it there.
Where do my visa and work rights go?
Under Other details in your profile, as a label and a value, such as "Work rights: open work visa". Job ads often ask about work rights, and SmartCVs checks this against what each ad asks for. A driver's licence, your availability and your notice period go there too.
Can SmartCVs translate my CV?
No. SmartCVs rewords your own profile for each job ad, in the language your profile is written in. If you need a CV in another language, you'll need to translate it yourself.
CV or resume, which do I need?
For most jobs they're the same thing: a short document that sells you for one role. New Zealand, Australia, the UK and most countries call it a CV. The US and Canada call it a resume, and use "CV" for a longer academic record. Whichever you call it, SmartCVs makes the short, tailored kind employers ask for.
