A CV holds your name, your contact details and your working life. Here's how SmartCVs looks after it, in plain words.
How we protect your data
Private to your account
Your profile, CVs, cover letters and jobs are yours alone to see, apart from the few SmartCVs staff who may need to look when helping with support. Files you upload are stored privately and cleared out once they've been read into your profile.
Kept in Australia
Your account's data is stored in a database in Sydney, and the app itself runs there too, close to the people who use it most.
Encrypted in transit
Everything between your browser and SmartCVs, and between our servers and the database, travels over encrypted connections.
AI that doesn't keep your CV
Every AI request runs with zero data retention, so the provider doesn't keep what you send it. If that can't be guaranteed, the request stops rather than going anywhere else.
Payments by Stripe
You enter your card on Stripe's own secure checkout page. Your card number never reaches SmartCVs, and you can update it through Stripe at any time.
Protected sign-in
Sign in with Google, or with an email address you've verified and a password. Sign-in attempts are rate limited and checked for bots, and password reset links expire after an hour.
An extension that sees only what you send
The browser extension can add its right-click item, show notifications and remember its settings. It talks only to SmartCVs, and can't read the pages you visit.
Analytics without your CV
No CV text, job ad or contact details go into our analytics events. On this website the free CV check is never recorded, and visitors in the EU and UK are asked before analytics runs.
Your data, your call
Your data is never sold. Close your account at any time from your account settings. To have everything in it erased, or to get a copy of what we hold about you, email us and we'll take care of it.
