The Opportunity | Te āheinga
Are you passionate about connecting communities with knowledge, stories, and digital experiences? Puke Ariki is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Collections and Digital Librarian to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
In this influential role, you will work with the Lead to provide direction and support to the Collections & Digital team with regard to daily operational tasks and collection development and management across the libraries’ collections, will take responsibility for selecting in allocated collection areas, and will champion best-practice collection management to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement across library services, and have a focus on service excellence, innovation, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua
- Support the Collections, Research & Digital Lead to deliver efficient processes and ensure a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Develop and manage library collections across Puke Ariki and Community Libraries, including responsibility for allocated collection areas.
- Coordinate collection procurement, vendor orders, invoicing, budget monitoring, and financial accountability.
- Analyse collection and service data to identify trends and inform future library services.
- Maintain accurate cataloguing, library records, and collection information within the Library Management System (LMS).
- Oversee the interloan service and ensure Collections procedures remain current and effective.
- Promote library resources, collections, and services to customers and the wider community.
- Provide technical support and advice to staff, particularly in relation to the Library Management System.
- Deliver excellent customer service through rostered front-line shifts and act as Senior in Charge on rostered weekends.
- Foster a positive team culture while demonstrating a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and te reo Māori.
Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako
- A relevant library qualification
- Experience working in libraries (preferably public libraries)
- Knowledge of collections management, development and promotion
- Competency in library management systems, online databases and other digital technologies
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated people management and supervisory experience
- Proven ability to build and maintain successful relationships internally and externally with individuals and professional groups.
- Experience in Collections functions including selecting, cataloguing, serials management and interloans
- Full Drivers Licence essential
- Knowledge of Te Ao Māori

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $70,401 - $73,462.
