Trade Centre Assistant Manager - Mount Maunganui

At NZ Safety Blackwoods, we're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trade Centre Assistant Manager to join our Mount Maunganui team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced retail, trade, or customer service professional who enjoys developing people, building customer relationships, and driving operational excellence.

Working alongside the Trade Centre Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the team, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and ensuring the Trade Centre consistently performs at a high level.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading and Developing People

• Coaching and mentoring Trade Sales Assistants to achieve their potential.
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training activities.
• Conducting regular coaching conversations and performance discussions.
• Creating a positive and engaged team culture.
• Supporting learning and development initiatives across the team.

Delivering Exceptional Customer Experiences

• Leading by example to create a customer-first culture.
• Building strong relationships with customers and understanding their needs.
• Resolving customer concerns and ensuring service standards are consistently met.
• Supporting customer feedback initiatives and store audits.
• Working closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered successfully.

Driving Sales Performance

• Supporting achievement of Trade Centre sales targets and KPIs.
• Coaching team members on sales techniques and customer engagement.
• Identifying opportunities to increase basket value and customer spend.
• Promoting complementary products and value-added solutions.
• Building rapport with customers to generate repeat business.

Supporting Operational Excellence

• Maintaining inventory accuracy and stock availability.
• Monitoring stock gaps, stock in transit and outstanding orders.
• Supporting visual merchandising and campaign execution.
• Ensuring pricing updates and store standards are completed accurately.
• Maintaining a clean, well-presented and compliant Trade Centre environment.

Championing Safety

• Supporting a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture.
• Facilitating toolbox talks and safety initiatives.
• Identifying hazards and promoting safe work practices.
• Ensuring security of stock, cash and Trade Centre facilities.
• Encouraging proactive reporting and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

You don't need to come from a safety or industrial background. We're looking for someone who brings:

• Leadership or supervisory experience in retail, trade, customer service or sales environments.
• A passion for coaching and developing people.
• Strong customer relationship skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• A positive attitude and willingness to lead by example.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• Confidence working with technology and business systems.
