This is a great leadership opportunity within a dynamic and unique one-of-a-kind pool and recreation facility. As Team Leader Learn to Swim and Customer Support, you will lead a dual portfolio that brings together two essential parts of the customer experience: our Learn to Swim programmes and front-line customer support services.

You will be a key member of the centre leadership team, contributing to centre-wide planning, supporting customers within the Centres recreation programmes, performance and decision-making. Working closely with the Centre Manager and the wider leadership team, you will support your people to deliver safe, welcoming and consistent experiences for customers, whānau and the wider community.

Your dual portfolio will include:

  • Overseeing the safe, high-quality delivery of Learn to Swim programmes
  • Coordinating staffing, service delivery and operational priorities across both functions
  • Monitoring service quality, participation and customer feedback, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Building strong relationships with customers, whānau, schools, community groups and internal stakeholders
  • Contributing to centre performance, financial outcomes and continuous improvement

You will balance people leadership with operational delivery, ensuring both teams are well supported, connected and focused on creating an inclusive and enjoyable experience for every customer.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated Learn to Swim experience, including programme delivery and maintaining high-quality learning outcomes
  • AUSTSWIM or relevant Swim Instructor qualification
  • At least four years of proven people leadership experience, with clear evidence of leading, developing and holding teams to account
  • Demonstrated experience growing a business, service or operational function, including increasing participation, utilisation or overall performance
  • The ability to translate strategic direction into practical operational initiatives and deliver measurable service outcomes
  • Strong commercial and operational judgement, with the ability to identify and implement improvements that strengthen performance
  • Confidence contributing constructively at the leadership table beyond your own portfolio
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

You will also demonstrate:

  • A clear commitment to Te Ao Māori practices and culturally responsive leadership
  • Proven ability to lead through change and build team capability
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills, sound judgement in a fast-paced environment, and a practical, solutions-focused leadership approach
