About the Role

As Operations Manager, you will provide operational leadership and coordination across the Land and Property team within the Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG). You will oversee the group's activities, commitments, planning and follow-up actions, ensuring reporting, processes, systems and operational support are consistent, accurate and delivered on time.

Leading a team of Property and Office Support Specialists, you will help provide safe, efficient, well-maintained and fit-for-purpose work environments.

You will help develop and standardise processes, procedures and templates, establish quality assurance practices and ensure information held within operational systems remains accurate and up to date. The role will also coordinate portfolio reporting, including risk and financial reporting, and support effective risk management across the group.

Alongside your operational responsibilities, you will support onboarding, offboarding and associated people processes to create a seamless experience for employees. You will also deputise for the Head of Land and Property as required, providing continuity of leadership and supporting national Land and Property initiatives and policy development.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Infrastructure and Investment Group is focused on delivering high-impact infrastructure investment that supports the transformation of New Zealand's health system.

The Land and Property team supports the effective management of Health New Zealand's property interests and workplace environments. The team works across regional and national functions and collaborates with a broad range of internal teams, property professionals, landlords, tenants, consultants and contractors.

This role offers a flexible location, with Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch preferred

About you

You are an experienced operations leader who can bring structure, consistency and clear oversight to a busy and varied work environment. You are highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and confident coordinating reporting, planning, operational commitments and follow-up actions across a diverse function.

You bring strong attention to detail and an analytical approach, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and turn them into practical, standardised processes. You understand the importance of accurate information, effective risk management and reliable systems in supporting sound operational decisions.

As a people leader, you build inclusive, high-performing teams and support others to grow and succeed. You communicate clearly, develop trusted relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels. Your approach is accountable, pragmatic and improvement focused, with a strong commitment to safe and effective work environments and better outcomes for the communities Health New Zealand serves.

You will bring:

  • At least five years' experience in operations management, including experience leading diverse teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple demands.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and standardising operational processes.
  • Strong proficiency in office technology and software.
  • Sound analytical thinking, attention to detail and a focus on delivering results.
  • A good understanding of health and safety responsibilities and risk management.
  • Strong communication, relationship management and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to lead, coach and support a high-performing and inclusive team.
  • A tertiary qualification in property or a related field would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of leasing, land matters or property management systems would be beneficial.
  • Experience working within a Crown entity or public sector environment would be highly regarded.
