About the job
At EnviroNZ, we’re focused on delivering practical solutions that help New Zealand look after its resources better. With around 1,100 people across 45 locations, our teams work every day to keep essential services moving and find better ways to manage waste and recover value.
Procurement plays an important part in that. From heavy vehicles, plant and fuel through to technology, services and operational supplies, the decisions we make with our suppliers have a direct impact on how effectively our operations run.
Your New Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced National Procurement Manager to lead and strengthen our national procurement approach, bringing greater consistency, commercial value and visibility to how we work with suppliers across the business.
This is a hands-on role with national reach. You’ll develop and maintain the procurement strategy and framework, lead significant sourcing and negotiations, manage key supplier relationships and put practical systems and tools in place to help our operational teams purchase effectively.
You’ll work closely with leaders across Operations, Fleet, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Technology and other areas of the business, making sure procurement supports the way our teams actually operate.
This Role Offers The Opportunity To
- Strengthen and shape our national procurement strategy and approach
- Lead significant sourcing, tendering and commercial negotiations across a broad range of categories
- Develop category strategies that deliver better value and whole-of-life outcomes
- Establish and manage national supplier agreements, strategic supplier relationships and supplier performance
- Improve procurement systems, reporting and governance across a decentralised business
- Provide practical commercial advice while making it easier for operational teams to get things done
About You
You’re an experienced procurement professional who knows how to balance commercial outcomes with the realities of a large operational business. You’re commercially astute, practical and comfortable working across both the strategic and hands-on sides of procurement.
You’ll be confident working with senior leaders and operational teams, able to influence without relying on formal authority, and comfortable constructively challenging the status quo when there’s a better way of doing things.
You Will Bring
- 10+ years’ experience across procurement, strategic sourcing, category management or commercial roles
- Strong experience leading complex sourcing projects, tenders and commercial negotiations
- Experience developing procurement frameworks, policies, systems or category strategies
- A track record of negotiating and managing significant supplier agreements
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to assess whole-of-life cost, risk and value
- Experience using spend and supplier data to identify opportunities and improve decision-making
- The ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels
- A practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to work across both corporate and operational environments
- Experience in a multi-site operational environment, particularly waste, transport, logistics, heavy industry, infrastructure or utilities, would be an advantage
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to shape how procurement works across a national business and make a tangible difference to the way we spend, contract and work with our suppliers.
You’ll have the scope to strengthen what’s already in place, influence decisions across the business and help our operational teams get better commercial outcomes without creating unnecessary red tape.
We Offer
- Competitive remuneration package with annual reviews
- Modern head office with free onsite parking and easy access to public transport
- Complimentary gym membership and access to onsite tennis courts
- Employee wellbeing initiatives, including EAP support
- A genuinely inclusive workplace where people can bring their whole self to work
