Use the ad's own words where they're true of you. An ATS, and a recruiter skimming, both look for them.

  • F endorsementMany ads ask for it by name. Say it's on your licence and current, and which forklifts you've driven.
  • Reach truckDifferent from a counterbalance, and not everyone can drive one. Name it if you can.
  • RF scanningMost warehouses pick with handheld scanners. Say you're confident with them.
  • Pick rate and accuracyGive your numbers if your site tracks them. Supervisors trust figures more than adjectives.

Common mistakes

What costs warehouse worker CVs interviews.

  • Writing "forklift licence" without saying what you actually hold.

    Say Class 1 with an F endorsement, and list the forklift types you've driven.

  • Calling yourself a hard worker with nothing to back it up.

    Use your pick rate, accuracy or containers per shift. They say it for you.

  • Listing every short-term labour hire job separately.

    Group them under the labour hire agency, with the sites and the kind of work, so your CV stays readable.

What changes across the Tasman.

New Zealand

In New Zealand you need an F endorsement on your driver licence to drive a forklift on the road, and many warehouse employers ask for it, so say whether yours is current.

Australia

In Australia, forklift operators need a high risk work licence from the work health and safety regulator in their state or territory, so check what you'll need before you move. Australian employers usually say resume rather than CV, and expect about two pages.

Should I put my pick rate on my CV?

Yes, if your site tracks it and it's good. A number like lines per hour with an accuracy figure is more convincing than any adjective.

Can I apply without a forklift endorsement?

Yes, for picking and packing roles. Say if you're willing to get one, as some employers will support you through the course.

How do I show labour hire work?

List the agency as the employer, then the main sites and what you did there. It shows steady work rather than lots of short jobs.
