We are looking for graduates who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision, additionally, you will:
· Have the motivation and drive to learn and develop professional working skills.
· Have obtained a qualification (NZQA Level 4 minimum) within the last 2 years. A qualification aligned with the role is preferred but not required.
· Good level of experience with Microsoft office
· Be eligible to work in NZ.
· Be able to work out of the specified BLVNZ offices – role dependent.
The programme commences on 18 January 2027 and ends mid November 2027, it is full time, and you will need to participate for the entirety of the programme.

This programme is specifically tailored to graduates who are blind, deafblind or have low vision. During the programme, you'll gain invaluable workplace experience through a 10-month paid placement with BLVNZ. You'll develop professional and practical skills related to your area of study and interests and build confidence in the workplace. Our goal is to help kick-start your professional career and assist you in gaining employment beyond the programme, by networking and leveraging your learnings.
We have three (3) roles available across the organisation, in various disciplines and providing insight into the mission of Blind Low Vision NZ.
Contact Centre: This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, build connections with a wide range of stakeholders, and join a team that provides professional, empathetic and accessible support to clients through phone, email and other communication channels. You will:
· Resolve enquiries at the first point of contact wherever possible.
· Connect clients with the appropriate teams and services.
· Support clients to access and use library services.
· Provide first-level technical assistance and guidance.
· Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date client information.
· Deliver accessible, high-quality service through clear communication and effective problem-solving.
This role is based out of our Parnell office in Auckland.
Policy and Advocacy: A great opportunity to join our Policy & Advocacy team to support in the creation of a practical toolkit for small and medium-sized businesses. Your work will help employers identify and remove barriers so people who are blind, deafblind or have low vision can access, remain in and progress in employment. You will:
· Research employment outcomes and barriers experienced by people who are blind, deafblind or have low vision.
· Explore employment policy, legislation and government programmes.
· Develop an understanding of the machinery of government and how policy decisions are developed and implemented.
· Review research, data and evidence to identify systemic issues and opportunities for change.
· Support policy analysis, briefings, submissions and advocacy materials.
· Contribute to recommendations aimed at improving employment outcomes.
· Engage with relevant stakeholders, where appropriate, including government agencies, employers and community organisations.
· Support the Policy & Advocacy team to turn evidence and community experience into practical policy solutions.
This role will be based out of our Wellington office.
Quality and Service Development (Client Services team): A unique role in a new quality and service development team. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple projects, where you will develop resources to support our clients with new technologies, investigate improvements in technology delivery and enhance a client’s journey with Blind Low Vision NZ, influenced by feedback and consultation. You will:
· Research service delivery and client journey approaches and provide clear recommendations to support decisions.
· Create and update client resources, including templates, FAQs, step-by-step guides and plain-language technology support materials.
· Coordinate consultation with clients, staff and stakeholders, and gather and summarise feedback to identify key themes.
· Support service improvements by documenting processes, mapping client journeys and identifying ways to improve the client experience.
· Prepare reports and recommendations that explain benefits, risks, practical considerations and next steps.
· Create opportunities for clients to share technology knowledge and resources with one another.
· Provide project and administrative support by updating plans, tracking actions and milestones, recording decisions, and preparing meeting notes and progress updates.
This role will be based out of our Parnell office, in Auckland.

· Attend and complete all training assigned
· Meet regularly with mentor
· Meet regularly with the People team and other interns in the programme to share learnings.
