About the job

At Trade Me, we're about connecting Kiwi to create the life they want. Whether it's the big things like finding a home, a job, a car or growing their business, or the smaller things, like finding that right bedside table or parting ways with some old stuff. At Trade Me our vision is to be the place where Kiwi look first.

The Digital Account Manager maintains and grows relationships with key advertisers across Trade Me's verticals (Property, Jobs, Motors and Marketplace), growing our digital advertising revenue. It's a sales role first where you'll look after a portfolio of managed accounts that already advertise with us, and go after new business from clients who list with us but don't yet know what our digital ads can do for them.

You'll also be the digital ads specialist for our wider sales team. Our account managers sell listing products and depending on the solution, they'll either hand you a lead or sell the digital product themselves with your support. Your job is to make that easy with advice, pricing, proposals and campaign know-how.

Digital campaigns have a lot of moving parts, so you'll pair strong selling and relationship skills with real attention to detail from the first conversation to booking, delivery and reporting. You will retain and grow existing accounts, acquire new business, and act as a trusted digital marketing advisor, ensuring Trade Me is recognised as an indispensable partner for Tier 1 & 2 clients while optimising campaign performance.

Here is what you can expect from this role:

  • Own and grow a portfolio of managed accounts, focusing on our Tier 1 and 2 clients keeping them, growing them and making sure they get great results from their campaigns
  • Win new business by spotting Trade Me clients who buy listings but aren't yet using digital ads and showing them what's possible
  • Back our wider sales team. Our account managers sell listing products. Sometimes they'll refer a lead to you; other times they'll sell the digital product themselves with your help on recommendations, pricing and proposals
  • Build and present deals in person by phone and by email, within set pricing and targeting guidelines and lead contract negotiations with your manager's input
  • Look after campaigns end to end with our Campaign Managers and Senior Campaign Specialist from booking through to delivery, reporting and insights
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients at every level, from business owners and MDs to marketing teams, with sharp sales material backed by data
  • Keep Salesforce up to date with your contacts, leads and sales and hit your revenue and activity targets
  • Get out there: industry events, client functions and networking where Trade Me should be seen

What you will bring to our team:

  • You're a salesperson first. 3+ years in account management and new business sales, with a track record of hitting targets and owning the full sales cycle from cold call to contract to after-sales care
  • Proven experience selling digital media (such as digital banner ads) or an adjacent, complex media product (for example radio, TV, out-of-home or print advertising)
  • Strong relationship skills. You build trust quickly with clients and colleagues, and adapt how you communicate to suit your audience
  • Great attention to detail. Digital advertising can get complex and you're the one who makes sure the proposal, booking and reporting are right
  • A collaborative streak. You enjoy helping others succeed and like being the person the team turns to
  • Drive and organisation. You manage your own time, prioritise well and work with urgency and a sense of humour
  • Curiosity. You keep across what's happening in digital marketing and advertising, here and overseas
