Description
Higgins is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team delivering the PKH Wind Farm Project in the Dunedin region. This is a rare opportunity to play a key commercial role on a major infrastructure project that will contribute to New Zealand's renewable energy future.
As a Senior QS, you'll be responsible for driving commercial performance across a significant package of works, providing leadership in cost management, procurement, contract administration, risk management, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. This is a site-based position working alongside a high-performing project team in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Managing project budgets, forecasting, cash flow, cost reporting, and margin performance.
- Administering head contract and subcontract commercial requirements.
- Preparing and managing progress claims, variations, notices, and final accounts.
- Leading procurement activities, including subcontractor and supplier engagement.
- Identifying and managing commercial and contractual risks.
- Supporting accurate month-end reporting and project financial performance.
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Providing commercial leadership and mentoring within the project team.
- Ensuring commercial activities align with project quality, safety, and delivery objectives.
What You'll Bring
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large civil, construction, infrastructure, or energy projects.
- Strong commercial acumen and contractual knowledge.
- Experience in procurement and subcontractor management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project environment.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and risk management.
