About the role
Make a difference in your community as a Programme Coordinator at Hutt City Council. This role is fixed term full-time (until 26 November 2027), working 40 hours per week.
Our Transformation team supports the planning and delivery of Council programmes, projects and change activities that improve the way we work and the services we provide for Lower Hutt Te Awakairangi.
As a Programme Coordinator, you’ll:
- Support the design and delivery of programme, project and change processes across planning, delivery, reporting and administration.
- Assist with programme planning, resource forecasting, financial schedules, budget tracking, purchase orders and invoices.
- Prepare and maintain programme updates, reports, papers, minutes, registers and other key documentation.
- Coordinate meetings, governance group activity, calendars, records and action follow-up.
- Maintain risk, issue, dependency, change and action registers, escalating matters when needed.
- Support stakeholder engagement, communications, training coordination and adoption tracking for change activities.
- Work collaboratively with programme and project teams, workstream leads and support functions across Council.

About you
We’re looking for a proactive, organised and collaborative person who enjoys working with detail, supporting others and building strong working relationships.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience providing high-quality administration, coordination or executive support in a busy or complex organisation.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to keep information, records, reports and registers accurate and up to date.
- Confidence working with budgets, expenditure, financial schedules and basic procurement or invoicing processes.
- Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and customers.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- An interest in developing programme, project and change coordination skills, with training and support provided.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, other project tools, engagement tools or AI tools would be an advantage.
