About the role

We're looking for an Information Management Advisor to join our Information Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping Council manage one of its most valuable assets – information. You'll support staff and the public to access records and archives, while contributing to the continuous improvement of the way information is managed across the organisation.

Whether you're helping someone locate an important historical record, supporting teams to use our digital workplace tools, or improving records management processes, your work will make it easier for Council to deliver services to our community.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll provide practical advice, deliver excellent customer service, and help ensure our information is secure, accessible and well managed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice and support to staff and the public on locating and accessing Council information, records and archives.
  • Searching across digital and physical information repositories to respond to information requests.
  • Managing Council's off-site records storage, including lodgement and retrieval processes.
  • Processing digital and physical records for archiving and digitisation.
  • Supporting staff with the use of Council's Digital Workplace tools.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve information management processes and customer service.

About you

You're organised, customer-focused and enjoy helping people find the information they need. You have an eye for detail, enjoy working with systems and processes, and are motivated by finding practical solutions and improving the way things are done.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in records management, archives, information management or a related field.
  • An understanding of information management principles and a willingness to build your knowledge of the Public Records Act and local government practices.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and building positive working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence using digital systems and learning new technologies.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience working in local or central government and a relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage but are not essential.
