Truckstops is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Motors. Established in 1984, Truckstops has provided unparalleled after-sales parts and service support to the road transport industry for over 40 years.

With 19 nationwide branches supporting Hino, Mack, Volvo and UD Truck & Bus, we have grown to become the largest supplier of truck & bus parts and workshop services in New Zealand.

Join our team and play a critical role in New Zealand's supply chain, providing maximum up-time to some of the biggest names in transport.

We're looking for motivated heavy diesel technicians to work on the cutting-edge technology delivered by global brands like Volvo, Mack, UD, and Hino. As part of our team, you'll get the chance to constantly upskill, putting you at the front of the queue to learn about EV and hydrogen cell technology as it emerges.

With supportive managers, the latest training, OEM tooling, and a wider group like Sime Motors behind you, you'll be free to take your career in any direction you choose.

What we offer

At Sime Motors, we grow our people. We've got an in-house technical training team & additional trainers to help you upskill through technical, business, leadership, and life skills modules, delivered in person and online - and career pathways that you can follow to get you to the next step in your career. We advertise all vacancies across the group internally, so the choice really is yours.

There are heaps of employee benefits too, including:

  • Sime Motors Privileges, an employee benefits programme with discounted shopping, fuel, in-store discounts and more
  • Additional leave for long service, community service, birthday and study.
  • Health benefits including our Sime Motors Southern Cross Group scheme, offering discounted premiums, and free eye, spinal, and hearing tests plus an annual flu vaccination every year and EAP support services.
  • Regional and national social activities like our social club gatherings
  • Our Top Tech Programme and Apprentice of the Year awards recognise and reward excellence.
  • Locations all over the country and paid relocation support if you choose to move for your next promotion.

Most of our managers progress from the floor, so you'll be mentored by people who understand the role. And, of course, your safety is a priority. Our in-house Health & Safety team works closely with managers to provide training and support; you'll be well taken care of while you work.

What we need from you

  • Willingness to learn, curiosity, and a passion for heavy transport
  • Minimum three years' diesel tech experience (or similar) and a National Certificate in the Motor Industry (Automotive Heavy Engineering - Road Transport) or its equivalent
  • A current Class 2 - 5 Drivers Licence*
