Te whiwhinga mahi - Our opportunity

Some senior leadership roles own programmes. Others influence outcomes.

This role sits at the centre of organisational change, bringing together strategy, delivery, operations, customer outcomes and executive decision-making to help ensure critical priorities are aligned, integrated and successfully delivered.

Kāinga Ora is seeking an experienced enterprise transformation leader to partner with senior executives and provide leadership across a portfolio of strategic initiatives and organisational priorities. Working directly with the Chief Customer and Operating Officer and senior leaders, you will play a key role in connecting dots, navigating complexity, resolving competing priorities and driving organisational momentum, all while supporting change to land successfully across a complex environment.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned leader who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, influencing without direct authority and bringing an enterprise lens to large-scale transformation.

This six-month fixed-term role has been established to provide dedicated leadership and integration across significant transformation, change and improvement activity occurring across the organisation.

Success will require the ability to quickly establish credibility, understand a complex operating environment, and work across business groups to ensure organisational effort remains focused on delivering intended outcomes.

You will be required to operate at both strategic and operational levels, helping executives connect decisions, identify dependencies, manage risks and remove barriers to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate enterprise-wide transformation, change and improvement initiatives.
  • Drive alignment across strategic priorities, ensuring programmes and activities remain connected and focused on outcomes.
  • Strengthen the connection between customer outcomes, operational performance and organisational priorities.
  • Identify and manage cross-functional dependencies, risks and interrelationships across a complex portfolio of work.
  • Support executive leaders with strategic advice, analysis and recommendations to inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate collaboration across business groups to optimise delivery and organisational effectiveness.
  • Support the successful implementation and embedding of change across teams and functions.
  • Contribute to governance processes, providing clarity, insight and challenge where required.

Ngā Pūmanawatanga Ōu - What You Will Bring

You will be recognised for your ability to lead complex transformation programmes and influence outcomes across large organisations.

You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide transformation, change and improvement programmes from design through to implementation and embedding.
  • Strong systems and enterprise thinking, with the ability to connect strategy, operations, technology, people and customer outcomes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, including working across multiple business groups, competing priorities and senior leaders.
  • Strong programme and delivery leadership (including expertise in programme methodology in practice) with the ability to maintain momentum, navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information, develop clear recommendations and communicate effectively with senior leaders and governance forums.
  • A strong customer and outcomes lens, ensuring change translates into practical operational and customer benefit.
