COLUMBUS COFFEE CHEF/BAKER - Full-time, 40 hours guaranteed.

Columbus Coffee is a vibrant and busy café situated in the Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby store, Christchurch.

We can offer an opportunity to someone who enjoys baking and gets a rush out of cooking during a busy lunch service. We can offer you a daytime position, with set hours, regular breaks, a competitive pay rate plus a staff discount at both Columbus Coffee and Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby.

This position will include one shift during the weekend.

Applicants with a Certificate in Hospitality (Cooking) or equivalent experience are preferred.

As the Café Head Chef:

• You will contribute to the successful running of the kitchen - in a busy cafe environment. You will be given a full induction and training but will need to be confident and experienced to work unsupervised
• Experience to lead a talented team of 2 other chefs

The ideal candidate for this role will:

• Be a team player with excellent communication skills
• Solution focused with an ability to manage stressful situations effectively
• Be confident with stock control systems, costing food products and food compliance procedures
• Ideally have at least 12 months experience as a Head chef working in a busy Cafe kitchen with great experience in cooking short order brunch meals and baking skills to help with preparing savoury and sweet food cabinet items
• Be able to work on a 7-day roster which will include weekdays, weekends and public holidays as required
