About the Role

Join our Radiation Oncology team in Dunedin as an Associate Medical Physicist and play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality cancer care across the Southern region.

Working alongside experienced Medical Physicists and a multidisciplinary team, you will provide radiation oncology physics support, undertake dosimetry and quality assurance activities, contribute to the development and management of advanced treatment technologies, and support ongoing research, education, and service improvement initiatives.

  • Support the delivery of safe and accurate radiation therapy treatments through clinical physics practice.
  • Perform dosimetry, equipment quality assurance, and radiation safety activities under supervision.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and optimisation of radiation oncology technologies.
  • Participate in research, innovation, and continuous service improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, radiation therapists, and wider multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes for patients.

You are an enthusiastic and motivated physics professional with a passion for applying science and technology to improve patient care. With a strong foundation in medical physics, you are committed to professional excellence, continuous learning, and working collaboratively within a busy healthcare environment. You bring a proactive approach to problem solving and thrive in a team focused on delivering high-quality oncology services.

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in Physics or Medical Physics.
  • Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a New Zealand Radiation Licence and meet ACPSEM Core Competencies.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific reasoning skills.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Show initiative, adaptability, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
