About the job

Youth House Leaders – 3 New Leadership Opportunities Dunedin | Ōtepoti Community-Based Supports and Residential Youth Homes

Help lead great support for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

Community Care Trust Aotearoa is looking for three caring, capable and organised people to take on House Leader roles within our Dunedin youth services.

One opportunity is within our Youth Community Team, working alongside young people, whānau and other support services. The other two are within residential youth homes, helping create a safe, welcoming and supportive home environment.

Both roles report directly to the Service Manager and combine hands-on support with practical, day-to-day leadership.

Mō ngā tūranga | About the roles

As a House Leader, you’ll model good practice, guide colleagues and help ensure tamariki and rangatahi receive consistent, person-centred support. You’ll build positive relationships, keep communication clear, and help the team follow through on support plans and goals.

Youth Community Team

This full-time, 40-hour role brings together direct support and service coordination. You’ll help organise rosters, process referrals, maintain accurate records, and coordinate communication with whānau and other support services.

Your working week will include a minimum of 15 hours of direct support, with 25 hours allocated to administration, meetings and coordination.

Residential Youth Home

You’ll lead by example while working rostered support shifts, helping tamariki and rangatahi with daily routines, activities, appointments and personal goals.

Alongside supporting colleagues, you’ll help oversee household routines, medication processes, documentation, and health and safety checks. You’ll help create a settled home where young people feel respected, connected and supported.

This role includes at least one evening shift per week, with some weekend work required depending on service needs. Allocated administration time will support your House Leader responsibilities.

Mōu | About you

You’ll bring experience supporting young people and the confidence to provide practical leadership within a team. You’re calm, approachable and dependable, with sound judgement, clear professional boundaries and strong communication skills.

You can organise competing priorities, maintain accurate documentation and raise concerns promptly with the Service Manager. You understand person-centred, strengths-based practice and positive behaviour support, and respond to challenges with patience and compassion.

We value cultural knowledge, lived experience, and the ability to work respectfully alongside tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and their wider support networks.

Mō mātou | About us

Community Care Trust Aotearoa is a not-for-profit organisation working alongside disabled people, tamariki and rangatahi to enable great lives and stronger, connected communities.

You’ll join a supportive team with a structured induction, House Leader training and ongoing learning opportunities.

Te tono | How to apply

We welcome applications from current CCT employees and external candidates. Please submit your CV and a cover letter telling us about your relevant experience and whether you’re interested in the community role, residential role, or both.

You must hold a full driver’s licence and have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

All employees will be vetted to a level appropriate to the role.

Applications close 5th November 2026. Applications will be reviewed as they come in, and roles may be filled before the closing date.
