At Steel & Tube Galvanising Ltd in Te Rapa, we are part of an iconic New Zealand company with over 70 years of history delivering steel solutions nationwide. We are looking for a reliable Truck Driver who thrives on variety and takes pride in safe, professional service.

Your Role

You will be responsible for the efficient pickup and delivery of goods to and from customers and sites, while also supporting yard and forklift operations as needed. Key duties include loading and unloading complex fabricated steel using 5-tonne forklifts (no overhead cranes), accurately recording and tagging jobs, stacking product safely, and ensuring loads are secured correctly. You will communicate professionally with customers on-site to coordinate safe loading and unloading, maintain accurate consignment and logbook records, keep the truck clean and compliant, and assist with galvanising activities when deliveries allow.

This is a hands-on role that goes beyond pure driving — you will actively manage your own truck in the yard, help other customers when required, and contribute to the wider team whenever you’re back early or free of runs. Safety, quality, and customer service sit at the heart of everything we do.

About You

  • You hold a current Class 5 licence and forklift licence, with proven experience operating a truck-and-trailer unit and handling heavy or awkwardly shaped loads
  • You are confident using 5T forklifts, understand centres of mass on complex fabrications, and take pride in representing the company professionally on customer sites
  • You work well with minimal supervision, communicate clearly, and are happy to roll up your sleeves in the yard or galvanising process when needed
  • A strong safety mindset and excellent driving record are essential.
