Our vision is to enable our ākonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.We are inviting experienced secondary teachers to join our Summer School team on a contract basis to support growing demand across a range of NCEA subjects.Now entering our 12th year, Summer School provides an important opportunity for ākonga to gain the credits they need to achieve key educational goals, including NCEA Level 2, NCEA Level 3, University Entrance (UE), UE Literacy and Numeracy, and endorsement opportunities.Summer School is delivered fully online and plays a critical role in helping ākonga stay on track for tertiary study, training, employment, or continued schooling.In 2025-2026, Summer School supported:More than 3,800 ākongaAchievement of over 8,300 NCEA creditsA programme pass rate of 94.6%More than 80,000 hours of learning on My Te KuraThis is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the future pathways of ākonga across Aotearoa. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this positionAs a Summer School Kaiako, you will work remotely, supporting and assessing ākonga through Te Kura's online learning environment.Successful applicants will:Work from home using their own laptop and internet connectionDeliver learning support and assessment onlineMark and provide feedback on student workSupport ākonga to achieve identified NCEA standards within the Summer School timeframeThe contract rate is $60 per hour, with a maximum of 40 hours available over the contract period.Applicants not currently employed by Te Kura will be provided with online induction and training before the programme begins.Successful applicants who are not currently employed by Te Kura will be able to attend induction sessions online Ko koe tēnei | About youApplicants must have the right to work or reside permanently in New Zealand, have a current NZ Teacher Registration and have current teaching experience at NCEA levels.We are looking for multiple Kaiako with experience and strengths and in specific NCEA level 2 and 3 subjects: ranging from the high demand subjects like, Maths, English and Sciences and all other subjects. Me pēhea te tuku tono | How to ApplyIf you are interested in supporting ākonga through Summer School, please apply via our careers page.We are recruiting for these opportunities on an ongoing basis and encourage you to apply as soon as possible. E hiahia ana koe ki te mōhio anō? | Like to find out more?For further information, please contact Lou Irwin, Summer School LeadIf you encounter any issues during the application process, please email jobs@tekura.school.nz  Applications close at 11:59pm on Friday, 30 October 2026.
