About the job

Exceptional hospitality. Thoughtful wine service. A team that takes pride in every detail.

Join the newly awarded Michelin-starred team at Amisfield, where vineyard and restaurant unite in taste and terroir. Set in the heart of Central Otago, we’re passionate about creating memorable dining experiences through exceptional food, wine and genuine hospitality.

We’re looking for an experienced fine-dining professional to join our highly skilled Front of House team and help elevate the guest experience through confident service, strong wine knowledge and a shared commitment to excellence.

The role

This is a hands-on hybrid role combining Duty Manager responsibilities during designated service periods, Head Captain on the floor and Junior Sommelier supporting our wine programme.

You’ll help drive service standards, deliver outstanding food and wine experiences, support wine sales and share your knowledge with colleagues. We value people who take ownership, show initiative and lead by example.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven senior or supervisory Front of House experience in fine dining or a comparable premium venue.
  • Strong service skills and a genuine passion for food, wine and pairing.
  • Excellent knowledge of New Zealand and international wines; WSET Level 3, CMS Certified Sommelier or equivalent knowledge, or actively working towards a relevant qualification.
  • Confidence leading by example, supporting colleagues and delivering personalised guest experiences.
  • Commercial awareness, strong communication skills and a calm, solutions-focused approach.
  • Confidence with POS systems, cash handling and operational procedures.
  • A current Manager’s Certificate under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, or the ability to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.

A current First Aid certificate is an advantage.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work within one of New Zealand’s leading restaurant and wine businesses.
  • A professional, supportive environment with opportunities to develop your skills and career.
  • Competitive remuneration and a full-time, permanent role with a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week.
  • Free on-site parking, healthcare cover, staff discounts, wellbeing support and free staff meals.

The role requires flexibility to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. An immediate start is available, and applications will be reviewed as they are received.

If you’re ready to share your passion for food and wine, connect with guests from around the world and contribute to an exceptional team, we’d love to hear from you.

Applicants will ideally have NZ citizenship/residency or a NZ work visa with a minimum of 6 months validity.
