Backed by a global team of over 12,000 team members across 54 offices, Slalom blends local expertise with the backing of global knowledge.
About The Role
As a Senior Principal Cloud Consultant, you will sit at the heart of our growing New Zealand technology and transformation practice, partnering with iconic Kiwi organisations to help them innovate and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital and AI-driven world. At Slalom, we view cloud not as a technical destination, but as the essential foundation for whole-of-business transformation and AI adoption. You will join a vibrant, collaborative local team while plugging directly into our global network of thousands of cloud and AI strategists and practitioners. This means you can bring the very best of Slalom’s global IP, playbooks, and international experience right here to Aotearoa. Whether you are guiding executives through complex cloud migrations, modernising legacy estates to unlock the power of data and AI, or shaping modern ways of working, this role offers an incredible platform to make a tangible impact on New Zealand businesses. Along the way, you will have endless opportunities to keep learning, stretch your leadership capabilities, and grow your career alongside world-class peers.
What You’ll Do
- Lead End-to-End Cloud Transformation: Guide New Zealand organisations through the full cloud lifecycle, from initial strategy, business case development, and large-scale migrations to estate modernisation and business model evolution.
- Enable AI & Modern Digital Foundations: Help clients modernise their core platforms and cloud architectures to support data readiness, AI innovation, and next-generation digital products.
- Drive Holistic Organisational Change: Look beyond purely technical deliverables to design and embed modern cloud operating models, governance, FinOps practices, and cultural change that empower clients to sustain momentum long after our engagement ends.
- Act as a Trusted Executive Advisor: Partner closely with C-suite and senior leaders to translate complex business ambitions into pragmatic, high-value cloud and AI roadmaps across leading hyperscale platforms.
- Bring Global Power to Local Challenges: Tap into Slalom’s global communities of practice, accelerators, and international subject matter experts, tailoring world-class insights to fit the unique scale, culture, and needs of Kiwi enterprises.
- Shape Opportunities & Partnerships: Collaborate with our local leadership and major cloud alliance partners to identify market opportunities, lead discovery workshops, shape compelling proposals, and grow our footprint across Aotearoa.
- Mentor & Build Our Local Practice: Play an active leadership role in our New Zealand team by coaching consultants, sharing knowledge, and helping shape the culture and capability of our expanding New Zealand team.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven Transformation Leadership: Extensive experience in consulting or enterprise technology leadership, with a strong track record of guiding large-scale cloud migrations, modernisations, and end-to-end business change programmes.
- A Business-First Cloud & AI Mindset: Strong strategic and architectural fluency in one or more major public cloud ecosystems (such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud), combined with a practical understanding of how modern cloud platforms enable AI. You focus on delivering commercial value, customer outcomes, and operational agility rather than just technical deployment.
- Executive Presence & Storytelling: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust quickly, navigate ambiguity, and align diverse teams from the boardroom to the engineering floor.
- Operating Model & Change Expertise: Practical experience helping organisations evolve their ways of working, including cloud and AI readiness, modern delivery (Agile/DevOps), organisational design, and cloud financial management.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated success in pre-sales, solution shaping, and building enduring client and partner relationships, ideally with an understanding of the nuances and opportunities within the New Zealand market.
- Passion for Growth & Collaboration: An energetic, curious, and team-oriented approach, excited by the opportunity to help build a local practice, uplift others, and leverage a global network to keep learning every day.
