About the Role As the Risk Reporting Manager, you'll play a key role in strengthening risk reporting across Health New Zealand. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management and based within Business & Governance Services, you'll lead the development, coordination and delivery of risk reporting that supports effective executive and governance decision-making.This is a hands-on role, requiring you to seek out, test and bring together risk information from teams, regions and directorates. You will need to understand both the detail and the bigger organisational picture, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and follow up with stakeholders to obtain the information needed for clear and defensible reporting.You will take a planned and disciplined approach to reporting cycles, anticipating requirements, coordinating inputs and ensuring reports are accurate, timely and decision-focused. This will include analysing data to identify emerging risks, trends, areas of concern and opportunities, and producing high-quality reports that meet expectations of executive management and governance audiences.A key focus of the role will be the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), alongside the ongoing improvement of risk reporting processes, tools and frameworks. You'll work closely with risk owners, regional and business unit stakeholders, and members of the national Risk Management Team to ensure information is reliable, relevant and supports a no-surprises approach.You'll also provide guidance, training and support to risk stakeholders, helping to build capability and strengthen understanding of risk reporting requirements. The role will contribute to the implementation of Health NZ's Risk Management Policy, Framework and Process, support internal and external audit activity, and assist with initiatives designed to uplift the organisation's risk maturity.This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to how risk is identified, understood and managed across a complex organisation, while working closely with stakeholders at all levels..You'll be working in a large, complex and fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly, information may be incomplete, and several high-profile reporting requirements may need to be managed at the same time. You'll need to remain organised, calm and delivery-focused under pressure, while maintaining accuracy and sound judgement.About you We're looking for an experienced risk professional who combines close attention to detail with the ability to see the wider organisational picture. You'll be proactive and persistent in obtaining information, comfortable with constructively challenging incomplete or inconsistent inputs, and able to turn complex risk information into clear insights for senior decision-makers.You'll bring:A relevant tertiary qualification and 8-10 years' experience in risk management, including significant experience in risk reporting.Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies and techniques.Demonstrated experience developing clear, accurate and meaningful reports for executive and governance audiences.The ability to move confidently between detailed information and the wider organisational picture, identifying gaps, connections, and trends.A proactive and persistent approach to gathering information, following up with stakeholders, testing the quality of inputs and constructively challenging where information is incomplete or unclear.Strong planning and coordination skills, with demonstrated experience managing recurring reporting cycles, competing deadlines and multiple contributors.Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills, with experience working across organisational boundaries, managing complex relationships and navigating differing perspectives.Experience developing and monitoring risk metrics and Key Risk Indicators, as well as improving reporting processes and supporting risk governance.The resilience and adaptability to remain organised, accurate and delivery-focused in a complex, fast-moving, and high-pressure environment using sound judgement when priorities shift or information is incomplete.A strong sense of ownership and a willingness to take hands-on responsibility for reporting, analysis, data integrity and maintaining high-quality risk documentation.A collaborative, authentic and transparent approach, with strong professional ethics and a commitment to modelling positive values and behaviours.You'll be a confident communicator who can adapt your approach to different audiences, build trusted relationships and influence outcomes without relying solely on formal authority.
