The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi We are looking for a Registered Nurse with mental health experience to join our team.

We are a 24/7, 6 bed acute alternative service, supporting tangata whai ora who are in crisis and/or require acute support. This is ideal for nurses who are passionate about empowering others and making a difference in peoples lives.

You will need to have a scope of practice to work in mental health and utilise your clinical nursing skills to support our people in in their recovery. Ensure individual support and recovery plans are developed alongside robust risk assessment and safety planning. You will need a strong commitment to trauma informed practices, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to draw on a range of therapeutic interventions and strategies.

This is a permanent, full-time position. You will be working Monday - Friday, 8:30am- 5:00pm based in Onehunga, Auckland.

You will conduct physical assessments and support people with goal planning. Additionally, you will provide ongoing emotional support and mental health care tailored to the individual, provide medication administration, as well as providing medication competencies for our kaimahi. You will need to be able to manage crises effectively, and advocate for tangata whai ora to ensure their voices are heard in all aspects of their care and recovery.

You will be apart of a dynamic team that work together to ensure that our whare runs smoothly 24/7, and be expected to jump in and support the wider team where necessary.

You will also:

  • Be a New Zealand fully Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate.
  • Have comprehensive and/or mental health and addiction scope, with the ability to work within the field of mental health.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and oral and excellent organisational skills
  • Hold a full clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • Have an understanding of what you need for your own wellbeing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn new computer programmes and skills
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
