About the Role

We are seeking an experienced nurse leader to provide operational nursing leadership in our general practice and urgent care clinics in Central Auckland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nursing leader who is passionate about progressing nursing, developing people, building high-performing teams, and influencing the future direction of primary healthcare. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, you will provide leadership across multiple clinics, partnering closely with Charge Nurses, Cluster Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care and positive health outcomes.

Leading a large and diverse nursing workforce, you will play a critical role in supporting workforce capability, clinical quality, professional development, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience managing sizeable teams who enjoys mentoring others, driving performance, and creating environments where people can thrive.

A key focus of the role will be supporting nurse-led models of care, increasing planned care activity, and enabling nurses to work to the top of their scope through ongoing coaching, workforce development, and clinical leadership.

What You Will Do

As a Regional Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and support Charge Nurses and nursing teams across a cluster of clinics.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and patient-centred care.
  • Support recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, and professional development of nursing staff.
  • Drive workforce capability and succession planning across the region.
  • Support nurses to develop advanced practice skills, planned care delivery, and nurse-led consultations.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and service development projects.
  • Partner with area managers, practice managers and charge nurses to improve operational and clinical performance.
  • Support the implementation of nursing strategies, models of care, and organisational priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with professional, clinical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote health equity, culturally safe care, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice.

What You Will Bring

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Extensive experience within Primary Care, General Practice, Urgent Care, or a comparable healthcare environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing large clinical or healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people.
  • Strong experience managing performance, workforce capability, and professional development.
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and service development.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and operational leadership capability.
  • A commitment to health equity, cultural safety, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.

Experience with nurse prescribing, planned care programmes, funding streams, and clinical governance frameworks would be highly advantageous.
