About the job:

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Programme Team Leader to join our Dunedin Team to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of key operational programmes across our water network activities.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for ensuring programmes are well planned, resources are effectively allocated, and operational teams are set up for success. Working closely with Supervisors and field crews, you'll play a key role in improving service delivery, network reliability, safety performance, and operational efficiency.

The role involves:

  • Leading the planning and coordination of operational work programmes
  • Managing maintenance, renewal, and asset replacement programmes
  • Coordinating resource allocation, including people, plant, and equipment
  • Monitoring programme performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting the development and training of field-based teams
  • Ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements
  • Collaborating with operational leaders to identify priorities, manage risks, and achieve service outcomes

What you’ll need:

  • 2-3 years’ experience and/or relevant qualifications in Water Industry
  • Experience leading operational or maintenance teams, ideally within water, utilities, infrastructure, or civil construction
  • Strong planning and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple work programmes simultaneously
  • Sound understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Experience developing and coaching frontline teams

All preferred candidates will be required to complete preemployment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
