As a Nurse Specialist you will provide assessment, consultation, care, and coordination of care to the Mana Awhi (Older Peoples Health) wards within Auckland City Hospital.The work is complex but rewarding and you will need to be able to think on your feet and be skilled, adaptable and responsive. Your passion for old age mental health nursing and ability to practice autonomously will be evident and you will work closely with part time psychogeriatricians in providing specialist advice and support to the ward clinical staff.The role is fixed term for 12 months, with the potential to become a permanent position.Remuneration will be at Grade 3 of the senior nursing scale, of the Mental Health & Public Health Nursing (PSA).For further details, please refer to the position description here.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe role sits under the Awhi Mātua (Mental health for Older People) team who work with adults over 65 who are experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioural difficulties associated with dementia. The team works with people from acute crisis presentation through to continuing care. This nurse specialist role is unique position in that it primarily works with Mana Awhi (Older Peoples Health) at Auckland City Hospital.About youAs a Nurse Specialist, you will meet the below minimum requirements: You will need to be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse with NZ registration and a current APC.
