We're looking for a Marketing Automation Specialist to lead the technical delivery of automated journeys across Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (NPC) and the wider Salesforce ecosystem.

In this role, you'll transform business requirements into personalised, data-driven communications that engage supporters, strengthen relationships and drive impact. Working closely with Engagement & Marketing, CRM & Data, Technology and Insights teams, you'll ensure our automation capability is reliable, scalable and continuously improving. You will:

· Design, build and optimise automated supporter journeys using triggers, decisioning, personalisation and audience segmentation.

· Activate audiences across Marketing Cloud Next, Data Cloud and CRM platforms.

· Lead testing, quality assurance, monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure journeys perform seamlessly.

· Implement consent, suppression, accessibility and deliverability requirements to maintain trust and compliance.

· Support measurement, experimentation and continuous improvement through robust technical solutions

· Develop standards, documentation and reusable components that strengthen team capability.

· Provide expert guidance on marketing automation, platform enhancements and best practice.

Marketing Automation Technical Architecture & Build

· Own the technical design, configuration and build of approved automated journeys in Marketing Cloud Next and related Salesforce environments.

· Translate business journey canvases into executable automation, including entry/exit criteria, triggers, branching, decision logic, dynamic content, personalisation, exception handling and automated-to-human handoffs.

· Maintain reusable technical patterns and avoid unnecessary bespoke configuration

Data Cloud Segmentation & Audience Activation

· Configure and operate governed audience segmentation and activation across NPC, Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud Next.

· Implement multidimensional segmentation using available governed attributes such as identity, relationship, giving mode, lifecycle, value, engagement, potential, treatment, source and preference.

· Work with Technology CRM & Data on source-data, identity, data-quality and integration dependencies.

Journey Testing, Release & Operational Assurance

· Own technical QA for marketing automation, including test scenarios, suppression testing, UAT support, release controls, post-release validation, monitoring, defect triage and version/change documentation.

· Diagnose whether failures arise from automation configuration, source data, CRM, Data Cloud, integrations or other dependencies and resolve or escalate to the accountable owner.

Consent, Preference, Accessibility & Deliverability Controls

· Translate approved consent, communication-preference, suppression, accessibility and deliverability requirements into tested technical rules within the marketing automation environment.

· Monitor operation, identify exceptions and escalate policy, legal or platform limitations to the appropriate owner.

· Ensure accessible technical templates and communication structures are used.

Journey Performance & Controlled Test-and-Learn Enablement

· Instrument automated journeys so entry, completion, conversion, branch performance, exits, cohort movement and operational health can be measured.

· Partner with Insights and business owners on controlled test-and-learn activity and implement approved optimisation changes.

· Provide technical diagnostics and reliable journey data rather than duplicating enterprise insight ownership.

Technical Standards, Documentation & Capability

· Establish and maintain marketing automation build standards, configuration documentation, reusable patterns, operating procedures and technical knowledge.

· Provide specialist advice to E&M, coach relevant colleagues, support platform upgrades and vendor engagement, and contribute to reducing avoidable single-person or supplier dependency.

Organisational Responsibility

· Undertake performance development responsibilities in Culture Amp.

· Demonstrate a proactive commitment to a safe working environment and BLVNZ Health and Safety requirements.

· Participate in emergency management duties as required.

· Undertake specific projects and activities required to support BLVNZ.

· Fulfil administration and reporting requirements accurately and on time.

· Uphold BLVNZ values and contribute positively to cross-functional initiatives

· 3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience in enterprise marketing automation, CRM-enabled lifecycle marketing, or a comparable technical specialist environment.

· Demonstrated hands-on capability configuring and operating Salesforce Marketing Cloud / Marketing Cloud Next or a comparable enterprise automation platform.

· Practical experience translating business journey requirements into technical automation, including triggers, branching, suppression, personalisation, testing, release and monitoring.

· Experience with audience segmentation, data activation and data-dependent journey logic; demonstrated ability to work across CRM, data and marketing automation boundaries.

· Experience diagnosing technical issues and coordinating resolution across platform, data, integration and vendor dependencies.

· Demonstrated experience documenting technical standards, configuration and operating procedures and transferring capability to colleagues.

· Practical commitment to accessible digital communications and compliant use of supporter data.

· Ability to implement approved consent, preference and suppression rules and identify exceptions or platform constraints.

· Ability to work with non-technical business owners and convert portfolio and journey requirements into technically sound solutions.

· Evidence-led approach to controlled testing, optimisation, reusable patterns and technical debt reduction.·
