About Us
At Alliance Group, we're more than a global supplier of exceptional grass-fed lamb, beef, and venison. We're a purpose-driven business committed to driving prosperity for our farming families and creating thriving environments for our people. With sites across the North and South Islands, we're focused on performance improvement, innovation, and reducing our environmental impact.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Livestock Representative to join our Eastern Livestock team, covering the Central and South Otago, East Otago and Northern Eastern Southland regions.
Reporting to the Regional Livestock Manager Eastern, you'll work alongside experienced Livestock Representatives to develop your skills in livestock procurement, livestock trading, and supplier relationship management. Through mentoring, hands-on learning, and practical experience, you'll build the knowledge and capability needed to establish your own territory and supplier base in the future.
This is a highly autonomous role where no two days are the same. You'll spend much of your time out on farm, building relationships, identifying opportunities, and supporting the continued growth of Alliance's livestock business.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting livestock procurement and supplier relationship activities across the region
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers and shareholders
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities
- Assisting with livestock scheduling and supply planning
- Supporting store stock trading opportunities
- Representing Alliance at industry events, field days, and supplier meetings
- Contributing to forecasts, reporting, and business planning activities
About You
We're looking for someone who is eager to develop a career in the livestock industry and enjoys working with people. You'll be naturally proactive, comfortable taking ownership of your work, and keen to learn from experienced mentors. This role offers plenty of variety and independence, so you'll need to be adaptable, organised and confident working with a wide range of people.
You Will Be Someone Who
- Has a genuine interest in the agricultural sector
- Is self-motivated, proactive, and willing to learn
- Thrives in an autonomous environment and can manage your own workload
- Enjoys building relationships and connecting with people
- Has strong communication and organisational skills
- Is comfortable using technology and Microsoft Office applications
- Holds a full driver's licence
- Is open and able to travel regularly throughout the region
Previous experience in farming, agriculture, livestock, sales, customer service or account management would be advantageous, but not essential.
Please note that we are only considering candidates who are currently eligible to work in New Zealand. We are not providing immigration sponsorship or supporting visa applications for this position.
