About the role...

Based at our office in Christchurch, we are searching for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Specialist to join the KMD Brands team. The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation of our global health, safety and wellbeing framework and ensure compliance across our support offices, retail stores and distribution centres in New Zealand.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and internal policies

• Supporting incident reporting and investigations

• Facilitating risk management and hazard identification activities

• Coordinating audits and compliance programs

• Leading health and safety committee meetings and stakeholder engagement

• Managing injury reporting, workers compensation and return-to-work processes

• Supporting wellbeing initiatives aligned with our HSW strategy

• Delivering inductions, emergency drills and training

• Preparing internal and external reports and documentation

• Providing technical advice and coaching to leaders

• Supporting system transitions and finance-related projects

• Fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement

About you... You’re passionate about creating safe, healthy and positive workplaces. You bring formal qualifications in Health and Safety at Work, along with experience in a similar role – ideally within retail or a fast-paced, multi-site environment. You’re confident working across teams, managing competing priorities, and driving meaningful change. You have strong communication and organisational skills, a strategic mindset, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Experience with MS Office and safety databases is essential, and a current driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel between sites is required.
