About the job

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Health & Safety Manager to help drive our safety culture across Les Mills New Zealand. Since 1968, we’ve been dedicated to our Purpose of ‘making humans fit for life’, growing into a world-renowned fitness brand while proudly remaining New Zealand owned and operated.

Reporting to the Head of People & Performance, this is a sole-charge role supporting our 12 clubs, offering plenty of autonomy, variety and opportunity to make an impact. You’ll be part of a tight knit people team and our go-to H&S specialist, providing expert advice, supporting incident and risk management, and owning and continually improving our H&S management system.

You’ll lead internal audits and key H&S initiatives, provide reporting and insights to our Board and leaders, and work closely with our SLT, clubs and external partners. It’s a hands-on role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, influencing others and seeing things through.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. This role could suit an experienced practitioner looking for greater flexibility. We're open to the role being part-time (30-35 hours) or full-time (40 hours), depending on experience and what works best for you and the business.

As an experienced Health & Safety professional, you will bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety Advisor, Business Partner or similar role
  • Strong practical experience in risk, incident and contractor management
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and experience supporting a business to meet its obligations
  • Experience working with and improving Health & Safety Management Systems, with ecoPortal experience a bonus
  • A proven ability to influence, coach and build H&S capability with managers and leaders
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work across all levels of the business
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and turn plans into action

This role requires energy and flexibility, and, in return, you’ll be part of a fun and hardworking culture where we support each other to deliver world-class results. You’ll also need to enjoy fitness as lunchtime workouts are how we roll!

To help us understand what might work best, please include your preferred weekly hours in your cover letter.
