About the opportunity

We're looking for a Growing Technician to join our Berries operation based across Kerikeri and Kaikohe.

As a Growing Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting the production of high-quality strawberries and blueberries, helping to ensure our crops remain healthy, productive, and meet quality standards.

This is a hands-on role combining practical orchard activities with technical crop management responsibilities. You'll work closely with the growing team and Head Grower to support the ongoing success of our berry operations.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. The role also includes a rotating weekend roster, with each team member typically working one weekend day every second week.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Monitor crop health, quality, and yield across our berry operations
  • Manage irrigation systems and support fertiliser application programmes
  • Identify and report pest, disease, and crop health issues
  • Operate and maintain orchard equipment and support day-to-day growing activities
  • Collect crop data and assist with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a safe and tidy workplace while following Health & Safety procedures
  • Work closely with the Head Grower and wider team to improve crop performance and productivity

This is a varied and busy role, so flexibility, initiative, and a positive attitude are essential.

About you

You have a genuine interest in horticulture and crop production and enjoy working in a hands-on environment. You'll support the Head Grower with the day-to-day running of the berry operation and be willing to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience in horticulture, agriculture, orchards, or a similar environment
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to travel between our Kerikeri and Kaikohe sites are required.
  • Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Physical fitness and confidence working outdoors
  • Good communication, numeracy, and computer skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Commitment to following safety standards and company procedures
