Job title: Fleet ManagerRole type: Full time, fixed term to October 2027Location: WellingtonSalary band & range: GSR D $102,953 to $132,401 depending on skills and experience  About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga This role offers the opportunity to reimagine and modernise MPI's fleet management function, with a strong focus on data-driven decision making, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with leaders across the organisation to ensure our fleet is fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, sustainable, and positioned to meet future business needs. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and curiosity about how AI and automation can improve business outcomes. Key responsibilities are to:Lead fleet optimisation and utilisation improvement programmesManage commercial contracts and supplier performanceInterpret complex fleet and GPS data to drive decisionsDeliver executive and governance reportingSupport fleet sustainability and carbon reduction initiativesLead implementation of fleet systems and technology solutionsBuild strong relationships with managers, directors, and suppliersChampion innovation, automation, and AI-enabled improvements About You - Mōu You're an experienced fleet management professional who combines strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and strong stakeholder engagement skills. You enjoy using data and insights to influence decision-making, improve operational performance, and deliver practical business outcomes. You'll be comfortable working with senior leaders, suppliers, and operational teams while navigating governance requirements and driving continuous improvement. You'll likely be working, or have worked, in a fleet management, transport, asset management, procurement, or operational leadership environment. Present reports and data in an easily readable way and showcase your experience within the public sector or a large, complex organisation. You'll bring:Experience managing fleet operations across the vehicle lifecycleStrong fleet analytics, reporting, and data interpretation skillsKnowledge of governance, assurance, and risk management practicesExperience managing contracts and supplier relationshipsAbility to influence stakeholders and present clear recommendationsCuriosity to explore AI and automation opportunities in the workplaceExperience leading projects, business change, or system implementations This role includes occasional domestic travel to support fleet initiatives and the rollout of fleet management tools across MPI sites, including possible overnight stays. You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply.
