Expression of interest-Kaiāwhina (Teacher Aide)

We currently do not have any vacancies for Kaiāwhina (Teacher Aide) roles at Rosehill School.

We are, however, welcoming expressions of interest for any future roles that may arise.

Casual or permanent placements can be either at our Base school in Rosehill Drive, Papakura or at one of our 15 satellite units across Papakura, Takanini and Manurewa.

This role provides flexible, as-needed support for our ākonga with significant and complex learning needs. It is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team.

Here is some information about the Role:

As a Casual Kaiawhina, you would:

• Work as part of a supportive and collaborative team on an as-required basis.

• Support ākonga with a range of learning, communication, behavioural, and developmental needs.

• Help create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

• Assist students to participate in classroom programmes and school activities.

• Build positive relationships and act as a strong role model for young people.

• Support students during indoor and outdoor learning experiences, community-based activities, and recreation programmes.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding role that requires staff to provide hands-on support to students throughout the school day.

Applicants must be comfortable working in active and dynamic learning environments and be able to:

• Support students with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene assistance.

• Provide physical assistance with mobility, positioning, and participation in learning activities.

• Assist students who require support with transferring and specialised equipment, following appropriate training and safe practices.

• Participate in outdoor education, recreation programmes, and community-based learning activities.

• Be active throughout the day, including walking, standing, bending, and responding to the physical support needs of students.

Experience working with autism, intellectual disabilities, or in special education is an advantage, but not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Hours and Locations

Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 2.30pm (term time only)

Positions available at our base school and satellite classes in Manurewa and Papakura.

Desirable

• Full driver's licence.

• Experience in education, youth work, coaching, community leadership, caregiving, trades, or supporting whānau.
