About the job
Ready for more than running just one part of a hotel?
You know hospitality. You’ve led a team, handled the difficult days, solved guest problems, managed competing priorities and learnt that great hotel operations come down to people, detail and getting things done.
Now you’re ready for more.
We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional to join Scenic Hotel Southern Cross as our Executive Assistant Manager. This is an opportunity to take the next step into senior hotel leadership and broaden your experience across the entire operation.
Working alongside the General Manager you’ll be a highly visible operational leader across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Conferencing and other guest-facing areas. You’ll also step up with delegated authority when the General Manager is unavailable.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days in a hotel are the same, and that’s part of what makes this role interesting.
You’ll
- lead and coordinate the day-to-day hotel operation
- support and coach Heads of Department and duty leaders
- keep the guest experience front and centre, including taking the lead when service recovery is needed
- work with the team on revenue, payroll, productivity, purchasing and controllable costs
- ensure the hotel is presented, maintained and operating at the standard our guests expect
- bring departments together around group, conference, corporate, leisure and sports business
- play an active role in health and safety, compliance and emergency readiness
- look for smarter ways of working and turn operational information and guest feedback into practical improvements.
About You
We’re looking for someone who has already built a solid foundation in hotel operations and is hungry for the next challenge.
Ideally, You’ll Bring
- significant hotel operations experience across multiple departments
- at least three years’ experience in a Head of Department or senior hotel management position
- strong people leadership and the confidence to coach other leaders
- sound commercial awareness across areas such as budgeting, forecasting, labour productivity and cost control
- confidence dealing with challenging guest situations and making decisions in a busy operational environment
- strong communication, organisation and attention to detail
- a practical leadership style and the willingness to be visible around the hotel, not just behind a desk
- flexibility to be part of a seven-day hotel operation, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and emergency or on-call coverage when required.
You don't need to know everything on day one. What matters is that you bring genuine hospitality experience, sound judgement and the drive to keep learning and developing.
