About the Role

This fixed-term opportunity through to December 2028 will see you support the delivery of a complex civil and marine infrastructure project while promoting strong environmental performance and practical sustainability outcomes. You'll provide environmental support for marine operations and help ensure construction activities protect the coastal environment, including kororā (little blue penguin) habitat and movement around the project area.

Working closely with project leaders, delivery teams, subcontractors, ecologists, and stakeholders, you'll help implement environmental controls, support sustainability initiatives, monitor compliance, and promote best practice across construction activities. You'll contribute to marine works planning, manage coastal and water quality risks, oversee spill and pollution prevention measures, and help minimise disturbance to kororā and their habitat. In doing so, you'll help the project manage environmental risk and meet client, regulatory, consent, and company requirements.

• Providing environmental advice and support to construction and project teams
• Monitoring environmental controls relating to erosion and sediment, dust, noise, vibration, ecology, and water quality
• Coordinating environmental contractors, specialists, and monitoring activities
• Supporting compliance with consent conditions, management plans, and regulatory requirements
• Delivering environmental training, toolbox talks, and project inductions
• Assisting with ecological, marine mammal, cultural heritage, and environmental monitoring programmes

What You’ll Bring

• A tertiary qualification in environmental science, sustainability, planning, engineering, or a related discipline
• At least five years' experience in environmental management within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, or a similar environment
• Sound knowledge of environmental compliance, consent conditions, erosion and sediment control, and environmental monitoring
• Confidence building relationships with project teams, regulators, subcontractors, and technical specialists
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence outcomes and provide practical advice
• A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a project environment
