Our people are key to our success. We're looking for a Development Manager to join us on an 8-month fixed term, covering parental leave. You'll cultivate your team's success through trusted relationships and proactive culture shaping, supporting each engineer's professional growth and satisfaction while delivering excellent outcomes for Trade Me. Reporting to the Head of Koru, this role is based in Wellington.

- Build and develop a team of engineers who deliver great results for their business unit and the wider business
- Set a clear path to success for each team member, with ongoing honest feedback and active management of under-performance
- Create learning opportunities that keep your team motivated, empowered and focused on the right work
- Build strong relationships with peers across delivery, product, technology, HR and People Experience
- Cultivate a high-trust, high-engagement, diverse and inclusive culture, championing our values every day
- Partner with lead software engineers on technical progression planning
- Find and onboard great talent, and contribute to workforce planning
- Work strategically with other Development Managers to make Trade Me Engineering a place Kiwi want to work
What you will bring to our team:
- 5+ years in a leadership position, including 3+ years of line management and at least 1 year managing 10+ direct reports
- 3+ years working with software delivery teams, with a working understanding of technical software development terminology
- Experience in an agile environment and familiarity with lean engineering principles
- A results-oriented track record of leading teams to great outcomes in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding communication and exceptional facilitation skills: you explain ideas simply, listen carefully and improve team communication
- Strong relationship-building, influencing and collaboration skills
- A high degree of empathy for colleagues and consumers, and you identify as part of tech culture
- Energy, drive and enthusiasm to engage and motivate others
