About the job

Communications & Marketing Manager

We’re building a new Museum for Waitaha Canterbury – a world-class facility for the taonga (treasures) we care for and a place to tell the stories of our region and the people who live here.

We’re looking for a visionary communications professional to shape the way in which Canterbury Museum speaks to, listens to and connects with its communities and stakeholders during a defining period of change. You’ll drive the Museum’s external and internal communications, strengthen and protect its reputation, manage media relationships and provide trusted strategic advice to senior leaders.

You’ll be an exceptional writer and storyteller with substantial senior-level communications or public relations experience. You’ll bring sound judgement, strong news sense and proven expertise in media, issues and crisis communications. Strong socials experience an advantage. You’ll know how to turn complex information into clear, compelling messages for stakeholders, communities, the wider public and staff.

Marketing is currently an important component of the role. You’ll oversee integrated campaigns, digital channels, brand management and audience development across the Museum’s sites, exhibitions, programmes and services. However, your strongest credentials will be in strategic communications, reputation management and organisational storytelling.

Our ideal candidate will be a credible people leader who can help set direction, build team capability and maintain quality in a complex, fast-moving and publicly accountable environment.

If this sounds like you, apply today and join our journey of change.

Applications close at 8.00 am on Friday, 30 October.
