About Fabrum
Fabrum has built a reputation of pioneering world-first technologies in cryogenics and hydrogen solutions, fuelled by our exceptional R&D capabilities. Now, we're leveraging that innovative passion to take our solutions to the world.
Headquartered in Christchurch, we lead the world in industrialized small to medium scale liquefaction systems and composite cryogenic vessels. We deploy end to end liquid hydrogen solutions globally across heavy transport, mining and aviation markets. Our core competencies include hydrogen production, storage, dispensing and system integration. We have a presence in international markets for liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen and LNG solutions with customers ranging from animal husbandry to hi-tech research institutions, manufacturing and defence.
About The Role
As a Chemical Process Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering innovative process engineering solutions across gas production, liquefaction, storage and delivery systems.
This is a hands-on technical role where you'll work across the full engineering lifecycle, from developing technical specifications and process designs through to supporting project delivery. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute directly to pioneering solutions in clean energy and cryogenic technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process engineering designs for gas production, liquefaction, storage, reticulation and dispensing systems
- Prepare technical documentation including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and functional descriptions
- Perform engineering calculations, computational modelling and technical problem-solving
- Support sales and project teams in developing technical specifications and solutions that meet customer requirements
- Participate in hazard assessments, identifying and mitigating process safety and environmental risks
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineers to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Ensure designs and documentation meet relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and project specifications
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, systems and ways of working
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Experience in process engineering design, ideally within industrial gas, energy or process environments
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles, calculations and design methodologies
- Experience preparing technical documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs and process specifications
- Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems and deliver practical, well-considered solutions
- Understanding of process safety, hazard identification and relevant engineering standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and customers
Nice to Have
- Experience in industrial gas production, liquefaction or cryogenic systems
- Exposure to hydrogen production, storage or dispensing technologies
- Experience with process simulation or computational modelling software
- Familiarity with hazard assessment methodologies and process safety studies
- Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering project environments
- Exposure/knowledge of the IEC 60079 series of standards
