Our proud history began in 1901 in Australia and 1888 in Aotearoa New Zealand.Holcim is certified as a Top Employer 2026 by the Top Employers Institute, recognising our commitment to creating a workplace where people thrive. About the opportunityThis role is a casual ongoing position and depends on ships coming in for unloading at our terminal near the Ports of Auckland.As a ship unloader you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant unloading of bulk cement and cementitious products from the vessels using specialized equipment.This role requires technical knowledge, physical capability and strict adherence to safety and environmental standards.In addition to overseeing ship unloading operations, the ship unloader operator supports continuous improvement by maintaining strong working relationships with subcontractors, shipping personnel and internal teams.The role is integral to Holcim's strategic intent of delivering and operating New Zealand's best supply chain distribution network for bulk and packaged cementitious products. About youYou will be a part of a hands-on, collaborative team who demonstrate our core values:Quality: Effective unloading operation to ensure quality product and service is available to our customers.Environmental Responsibility: Protect the environment by following procedures and promptly reporting and addressing any breaches (e.g. cement spillages).Positive Team Culture: Demonstrate a proactive and supportive approach within the terminal team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Safety: Actively lead and foster a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety, health, and environmental legislation while supporting Holcim's SHE policiesRelationship Management: Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors, customers, and stakeholders to support safe and efficient terminal operations. Skills and experience requiredFull car licenseForklift experienceTrade or Degree qualification preferredExcellent communication skillsIntermediate computer literacySAP ERP experience highly advantageousAdditionally, you must hold full NZ work rights with no restrictions on hours worked or duration of employment.
