The service operates Monday to Friday, with after-hours care provided by the General Medicine team in accordance with the organisations stroke pathwayThe Acute Stroke team provides inpatient care during the acute phase, with patients transitioning to rehabilitation services when clinically appropriate. The team also delivers specialist outpatient care for referrals from primary care involving high-risk presentations or suspected transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs).While this position is primarily focused on acute stroke medicine, we welcome enquiries from applicants interested in combining the role with Geriatric Medicine, Neurology or General Medicine. This may provide an opportunity to increase the total FTE available by working across specialties.We are open to receive applications for those seeking part-time or full-time hours.About the Team/Service/LocationTauranga Hospital is a 359-bed hospital which provides acute adult medical service with support from resident specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Haematology and Renal services. We have an 8-bed Stroke Unit co-located with our Rehabilitation ward offering both hyperacute and acute stroke treatments with regional access to specialist support (neurosurgery / thrombectomy).The successful candidate will join a department of Physicians, Junior Medical Staff, Allied Health and Nurses who provide specialist services to older adults.
