Senior Data AnalystRole type: Permanent, Full TimeLocation: Wellington City Salary range & band: General Salary Range D/E: $88,748 - $120,365 depending on skills and experience  About the Role - Kōrero mō te TūrangaJoin Fisheries New Zealand's Fisheries Data Management team and play a key role in ensuring high-quality fisheries information is available to support research, policy, compliance and sustainable fisheries management. You'll work at the intersection of data, science, and business, leading complex data analysis and stewardship activities while building strong partnerships with stakeholders.Key responsibilities include:Manage and enhance fisheries research data repositories. For example, processing raw observer data and turning it into structured informationLead complex data requests and information releasesImprove data quality, governance, and management practicesPartner with scientists and business stakeholdersSupport system improvements and change initiativesThis role offers a unique opportunity to influence how fisheries information is managed and used to support decision-making across New Zealand's fisheries sector. About You - MōuYou are an experienced data professional who enjoys solving complex problems and turning information into meaningful outcomes. You build strong relationships with technical experts and stakeholders and are motivated by delivering high-quality services and continuous improvement.Our ideal applicant will also bring:A relevant tertiary qualification in information management, data analytics, computer science, statistics, or a related disciplineProven experience managing data quality, data governance, and information management processesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into practical business insightsExperience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and contributing to continuous improvement initiativesExperience managing and analysing large and complex datasetsNew Zealand fisheries knowledgeThey will also have practical experience using some or all of the following tools and technologies:Relational Databases, predominantly PostgresSQL for data extraction, validation, and analysisPower BI or similar reporting and visualisation toolsMicrosoft Excel, including advanced data analysis functionsData management and database systemsIt is preferable that you meet most of the role requirements to apply.
