We’re looking for an experienced Structures - Project Engineer to join us on the major project Ōtaki to North Levin - Te Pae o Tararua.

This is a big one - a Roads of National Significance project!

The Ōtaki to North Levin (Te Pae o Tararua) project focuses on upgrading the transport link along State Highway 1 (SH1) between Ōtaki and North Levin to improve road safety, reduce congestion, enhance travel efficiency, and support regional economic growth. It is one of the Government’s Roads of National Significance and is being undertaken by two Alliances – the north (delivered by partners Fulton Hogan, HEB, WSP and Aurecon) and south (delivered by partners Downer, McConnell Dowell, Beca and Tonkin+Taylor).

This exciting new four-lane 24.8km highway project will dramatically improve safety and resilience, providing better access to walking and cycling facilities for those moving around or through the Horowhenua and Kāpiti districts.

Key role responsibilities:

• Manage the teams and sub-contractors within your area and coordinate with other teams to ensure optimisation of resources and efficiency
• Plan the execution of the works and develop construction methodology for all elements of the works
• Provide a monthly forecast of cost to complete to the commercial manager, and an estimate of the work completed in terms of percentages complete to the planner
• Provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues as they arise
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction methodologies
• Maintain a safe and tidy site, assisting in the development of management systems and ensuring compliance within your team
• Monitor expenses, process invoices, and contribute to financial reporting.
• Undertake regular inspections & driving health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across the project.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Hold a bachelor/diploma in civil engineering at NZQF Level 7+
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within a structures civil portfolio that includes reinforced concrete, bridges, retaining walls, piling, and/or treatment plants and pipelines, State highway flyovers.
• Proven experience working with contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders
• Have commercial awareness and understanding of programme, cost, quality, and risk management with proven experience
• Excellent leadership qualities
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing others
