About the job
Payroll Manager – ANZ | Fixed term
- Based at our Papakura or Wiri manufacturing sites
- Fixed-term parental leave cover through to November 2027
- Experienced payroll leader with Australian and New Zealand payroll expertise
At Griffin’s Snacks, we’re proud of our heritage and being New Zealand’s largest snack food company, producing a wide range of iconic and much-loved kiwi brands - many of which have been known and loved for generations.
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Manager – ANZ to manage payroll across Griffin’s Snacks New Zealand and Snackbrands Australia. This fixed-term role covers parental leave, with a start date any time before February 2027 and an end date in November 2027. Reporting to the Financial Controller NZ, you’ll be based at our Papakura or Wiri manufacturing site, with flexible working options available.
With a limited handover period, we need someone who already brings payroll knowledge across both Australia and New Zealand, along with proven people-management experience. This is a role for an experienced payroll leader who can step in confidently, rather than a development opportunity or a first move into managing payroll across both countries.
You’ll lead four direct reports – two in New Zealand and two in Australia – delivering accurate, on-time payroll for around 1,400 employees. Alongside overseeing weekly and monthly payrolls for waged and salaried teams, you’ll process the ANZ Executive Team payroll and support the team with complex payroll queries.
Your focus will be keeping payroll running smoothly, supporting an established team and ensuring payroll processes are followed across the business.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting four payroll team members across New Zealand and Australia, including payroll delivery for smaller remote sites
- Ensuring payroll meets Australian and New Zealand legislation, employment agreements and company policies
- Providing payroll reports and analysis for management and the wider group
- Overseeing accurate, on-time payroll payments, records, employment tax payments and filings
- Processing monthly ANZ Executive payrolls and providing hands-on cover for other payrolls when needed
- Working with managers to resolve payroll issues, maintain clear processes and make practical improvements
- Implementing approved salary review changes accurately
- Supporting company audits and keeping payroll records audit-ready
What you’ll bring to the role?
- Proven experience managing and processing payroll across both Australia and New Zealand
- Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation in both countries, including annual leave, sick leave and Australian long service leave
- Confidence using payroll systems and Microsoft Office. PayGlobal or MYOB experience would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Proven experience managing a team of at least two people, ideally in a complex manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to build relationships quickly, work with senior leaders and hold firm on payroll requirements
- Strong attention to detail, sound numerical skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently
- Flexibility for occasional travel to Australia and calls outside standard New Zealand hours to support the Australian team
What can you expect in return? A supportive team, flexible working options and plenty of snacks!
If you’re an experienced ANZ payroll leader looking for a fixed-term opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
