About the job

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

This is a 9 months contract.

As a Platform Engineer, you will support, maintain and improve WNZL’s OpenShift Platform as a Service (OPaaS) capability, running on dedicated bare-metal infrastructure across production and non-production environments.

Working within the OPaaS squad, you will provide hands-on platform administration, operational support, automation and technical guidance for Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, platform services and supporting tooling.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Current or recent hands-on experience administering Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform v4.15 and later, platform administration experience is essential, not just application-user experience.
  • Strong Kubernetes knowledge, including pods, namespaces, operators, RBAC, ingress, routes, storage, scheduling and workload troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating OpenShift on bare-metal or equivalent enterprise infrastructure, including worker-node lifecycle, capacity, resilience and hardware dependency management.
  • Linux/RHEL administration skills, including shell scripting, systemd, SSH, Podman or equivalent container runtime knowledge.
  • Automation capability using Terraform, Python, GitOps practices and source-control workflows.
  • Experience with GitOps and deployment tooling such as Argo CD, Helm, Kustomize, Jenkins, Bitbucket or GitHub Enterprise.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking, DNS, load balancing and ingress patterns using tools such as F5 BIG-IP, Infoblox or equivalent.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana and Alertmanager.
  • Working knowledge of platform security, RBAC, secrets management, compliance scanning and vulnerability remediation using tools such as HashiCorp Vault or CyberArk.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile squad, using Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow and Teams to manage work, incidents, change and stakeholder engagement.

Desirable

  • Experience with Dell PowerEdge infrastructure, iDRAC, firmware planning and platform hardware expansion.
  • Experience with OpenShift Data Foundation, CSI drivers or enterprise storage integration.
  • Exposure to Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management, Advanced Cluster Security and Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.
  • Exposure to Red Hat Developer Hub, DevSpaces, Red Hat Service Mesh or Backstage-style self-service platform patterns.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist, Red Hat Certified Engineer or equivalent Kubernetes/OpenShift certification.
