Help Shape the Future of Advanced Diabetes Care in South Canterbury
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join our Diabetes service as either a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner (NP) Intern (RN working towards NP)
While this role has been developed to support people living with diabetes, including complex, gestational, and paediatric diabetes, we recognise that advanced nursing skills are transferable across many specialties. Applicants with diabetes experience will be highly regarded, however we also welcome applications from experienced advanced practice nurses from other clinical specialties who are interested in growing their skills within this area.
The position includes outpatient clinics, supporting people at risk of admission or readmission, workforce development, clinical leadership, and contributing to innovative models of care that improve outcomes for our community.
We Want to Hear From You
While Diabetes is currently an area of need, we recognise that experienced advanced nurses bring a wide range of skills and expertise.
If you are already a Nurse Practitioner, working towards Nurse Practitioner registration, or an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist with prescribing looking to further develop your advanced practice career, we encourage you to apply.
While experience in diabetes is desirable, we are also interested in hearing from candidates who bring advanced nursing expertise from other specialties. For the right person, we are open to discussing development pathways, mentorship, education support, role design, and service opportunities during the recruitment process.
As part of our CNS Multi-Condition Hub, there may also be opportunities to contribute across multiple service areas. Applicants interested in broader advanced practice opportunities, additional hours, or developing a more generalist portfolio are encouraged to discuss this with us during the recruitment process.
Please note that NP intern pathways require a minimum of 0.6FTE employment, if this is you, please review the NP intern opportunity co-advertised within the Cardiology service
This is an opportunity to help shape both the role and the future of advanced nursing practice within South Canterbury.
