About the job

Short Description: Help more New Zealanders achieve their home ownership and financial goals through high‑quality, needs‑based new home lending and Life insurance experiences

About the role As a New Home Lending Specialist, you’ll be the face of The Co-operative Bank’s new home lending proposition, guiding customers through their new home lending journey from first conversation through to decision and drawdown. You’ll provide clear, empathetic and informed support, helping customers understand their options and feel confident and well supported at every stage.

You’ll bring strong home lending expertise and sound judgement to provide high-quality, needs-based lending and Life insurance experiences. You’ll take ownership of lending decisions within your delegation, balance customer outcomes with quality, turnaround time and compliance requirements, and support customers through more complex lending scenarios with clarity and sound responsible lending guidance.

This role is also about helping us grow. You’ll build strong internal and external relationships, develop your market presence through networking and community connections, and generate new opportunities for the Bank. As part of our national New Home Lending team, you’ll also bring your experience and customer insights to improving our home lending experience, processes and ways of working.

This is a full-time opportunity, based in one of our branch locations.

You’ll bring the following experience to the table:

  • Strong home lending product, policy and process knowledge (including the new home buyers process) and a sound understanding of responsible lending and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage lending applications, customer outcomes, quality and turnaround times with strong attention to detail and sound judgement.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills across phone and digital channels, with confidence in networking and business development.
  • Problem identification and solving, critical thinking, good judgment and proactive decision making.
