Job description
We are currently looking for a Logistics Supervisor to join our team based in Onehunga. If you have a great work ethic and want to be part of a strong connected team; it might be time to give your career the Alexander Advantage.
The Logistics Supervisor role is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day management of the yard, fleet, and approximately 20 drivers/yard workers.
Your responsibilities will include - Ensuring the yard is safe, compliant and maintained to MPI standards.
- Scoping and booking work, and assigning work to drivers, alongside the scheduling team.
- Managing relationships with intermodal transport providers such as Bluebridge and Kiwirail.
- Providing leadership and management to your direct reports, with support from the Logistics Manager and P&C function.
- Ensuring timely fleet maintenance and document all records for servicing, repairs of all units.
- Working with the Safety and Compliance teams to create a mutually beneficial partnership to embed best practices within the business
Ideally, you'll bring
- Previous experience working in the transport industry (3-4 years in the logistics space, not necessarily all in a supervisory/management role).
- Prior experience supervising/managing a team of class 5 drivers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the road transport sector with operations background
- Comfortable using computer systems and MS Office.
- Excellent written, oral communication and people management skills
- Excellent organisational skills.
