Growth Marketing Lead

About the job

We're looking for a commercially minded growth marketer to help accelerate patient growth across Tend and The Doctors at a pivotal moment in New Zealand healthcare.

Tend is growing fast. With the acquisition of The Doctors, we’re bringing together two trusted primary care brands, hundreds of thousands of patients and a nationwide network of medical centres - creating an opportunity to build a genuinely modern growth engine for primary care.

This is a role for someone who sees growth as more than campaigns and channels. Someone who is curious about what makes patients choose a provider, obsessive about removing friction from the patient journey, and comfortable using data and experimentation to find what works and scale it.

About Tend Health

Tend is a New Zealand-owned primary care network on a mission to help New Zealanders be the healthiest people in the world. Backed by iwi and local investors including Ngāi Tahu Holdings and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Tend combines medical centres with 24/7 online GP consultations on technology purpose-built for primary care.

What you'll do

As the Growth Marketing Lead, you’ll help build the growth engine for the combined group.

You’ll work across the full patient journey - from awareness and consideration through to booking, enrolment, retention and advocacy - identifying the biggest opportunities to grow patient numbers and lifetime value.

Build the growth strategy

  • Identify and prioritise the biggest opportunities to drive sustainable patient growth across Tend and The Doctors.
  • Develop a clear growth roadmap across acquisition, conversion and retention.
  • Translate business and patient needs into measurable growth opportunities.

Grow acquisition

  • Develop and optimise acquisition activity across paid, owned, earned and emerging channels.
  • Understand acquisition economics and continually improve CAC, conversion and lifetime value.

Improve conversion

  • Own the digital patient funnel from discovery through to booking and enrolment.
  • Identify friction and drop-off points using behavioural and performance data.
  • Develop and run a structured programme of experiments across propositions, audiences, journeys, landing pages and booking experiences.
  • Scale what works and stop what doesn’t.

Increase patient value and retention

  • Partner with CRM, product and clinical teams to improve the experience after a patient joins.
  • Identify opportunities to increase continuity of care, recall, preventative care, referrals and lifetime value.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of patient cohorts and behaviours.

Turn data into decisions

  • Build a clear view of the growth funnel and the metrics that matter.
  • Own reporting and insight across acquisition, conversion, retention and patient value.
  • Go beyond platform metrics to understand what is genuinely driving incremental growth.
  • Bring clear recommendations to the business - not just dashboards.

Build the growth capability

  • Help establish a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • Work across Tend and The Doctors to build consistent ways of measuring and optimising growth.
  • Partner closely with teams across marketing.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years' experience in growth, acquisition, performance or digital marketing, ideally in a high-growth, consumer-focused organisation.
  • A proven track record of personally driving measurable growth, not simply managing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition economics, including CAC, conversion, retention, LTV and ROI.
  • Deep digital experience across areas such as paid media, search, SEO, CRM and conversion optimisation.
  • Strong analytical capability and the ability to turn data into clear commercial decisions.
  • Experience designing and running experiments, with a genuine test-and-learn mindset.
  • A strong understanding of customer journeys and what makes people take action.
  • The ability to work across multiple teams and influence people without direct authority.
  • A hands-on approach - you’re equally comfortable setting the strategy, interrogating the data and getting an experiment live.
  • Curiosity, pace and a healthy willingness to challenge assumptions.

If you're energised by growing something at scale, love turning data into decisions, and want your work to genuinely improve access to healthcare for hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders, we'd love to hear from you!
